Obituary of Rafael Cedeno
Rafael Cedeno, 74, of Hagaman Avenue, Amsterdam, died Sunday evening at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam with his devoted family at his bedside.
Born on September 10, 1932 in Yauco, Puerto Rico he was the son of the late Apolonio and Juanita Cedeno Santiago. He moved to the United States in 1951 and was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church.
Mr. Cedeno worked for many years for General Electric in Schenectady, retiring in 1974. He had previously worked for the former Montenaro Bros. Paper Mill.
He was predeceased by two sons, Juan and Angel Luis; one daughter, Juanita Maria; one brother, Miguel A. Pietri; and one sister, Cielo Riveria.
His family includes, his loving wife, the former Beverly Rodd, whom he married on July 27, 1974; four sons, Rafael Cedeno Jr., and his wife Sonia of Orlando, FL, Apolo ?Paul? D. Cedeno and his wife Amy of Amsterdam, NY, Ricardo ?Rick? L. Cedeno of Amsterdam, NY, Noel A. Cedeno of Amsterdam, NY; two daughters, Beverly Anna Kasowski and her husband Chad of Schenectady, NY, Julia M. Person and her husband Timothy of Amsterdam; one brother, Ernesto of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters Rosa Julia Orengo and her husband Miguel of Amsterdam, NY, Auria Carabollo and her husband Luis of Tacoma, WA; ten grandchildren, Jacob Rafael, Jolynn, Gabriella, Luis, Rafael III, Derek, Cassandra and Tera Cedeno, Hope Marie Kasowski, and his special granddaughter, Jessica Garcia; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 8:30a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30a.m. at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 40 Van Derveer Street, Amsterdam. Interment will take place in St. Michael?s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 5 until 8 this evening Tuesday at the funeral home.
