Obituary of Sandra D'Alesandro
Mrs. Sandra D?Alesandro, 85, of Cleveland Avenue, died suddenly Saturday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital with her family by her side.
Born on October 26, 1921 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine Cavalier Greco. She was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools.
Mrs. D?Alesandro worked as a seamstress for many years at Mohawk Sportswear, in Amsterdam until her retirement in 1994. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, and was an avid bowler, winning various awards. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and the love that she had for her family.
On November 12, 1944 she was united in marriage to Dominic A. ?Chic? D?Alesandro. That union lasted 53 years, until his passing on April 17, 1997. She was also predeceased by a sister, Rachel Mosher and a brother, Peter Greco.
Her loving family includes, her children, Judith Duemler and her husband Robert of Amsterdam, NY and Dr. Dominic D?Alesandro Jr. of Tybee Island, Georgia; one sister, Yolanda Crady of Broadalbin, NY; one brother, Joseph Greco and his wife Judy of Amsterdam, NY; three grandchildren, Eric Duemler and his wife Sarah, Christine Munn and her husband Tim, All of Amsterdam, and Dr. Matthew Duemler of Knoxville, TN; four great grandchildren, Ashlee McDonald, Autumn Duemler, Bobby and Carson Munn; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, May 7, 2007 at 10:00a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00a.m. at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Roman Catholic Church, St. John Street, with the Rev. Pascal Iannotti as celebrant. Interment will take place in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 3 until 6 Today Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Stroke Association or to the church, in care of the funeral home.
