Obituary of Hazel L. Henry

Mrs. Hazel L. Henry, age 86, of the Town of Mayfield, died peacefully on Friday evening, May 11, 2007 at Mountain Valley Hospice, Gloversville. She was born on August 30, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late John and Leah Dewars Stewart. She came to Gloversville with her family at the age of five, and was a 1938 graduate of Gloversville High School. Mrs. Henry was a member of the Baptist Church of Northville and the Bannertown Senior Citizens Club of Mayfield. She was employed at the former Britts Department Store in Gloversville, as well as at several other retail stores in the area. Hazel was married on February 4, 1940 to John D. Henry who died August 16, 1984. She is survived by two sons, Darryl W. Henry of Ephratah and David J. Nancy Henry of Gloversville; six grandchildren, April Velarde, Shawn Henry, Summer Capodiferro, Kelly Callari, Brian Henry and James Henry; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Ronald S. Henry. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 5 pm Tuesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 5 pm Tuesday. Interment will take place at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
