Obituary of Katherine A. Peterson

Mrs. Katherine A. Brown Peterson, age 83, died peacefully on Monday, May 14, 2007 at her home in Gloversville, following a short illness. She was born September 16, 1923 in the town of Johnstown, the daughter of the late Stewart and Lillian Winteroll Brown. She was a glove maker at various firms in the area, and also worked at Coleco Industries in Gloversville. She was a member of Saint James Lutheran Church. Katherine was married on July 3, 1955 to Earl G. Peterson who died February 16, 2001. She is survived by two children, Steven R. Mary Peterson and Melody A. Tim Denton of Gloversville; a sister, Lillian Hayner of Johnstown; a brother, Alfred Brown of Idaho; three grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Alaina Peterson, Amanda Peterson and Timothy H. Denton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister, George Brown, Robert Brown, Donald Brown, Edward Brown and Doris Meyers. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday and from 10 to 11 am Thursday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 11 am Thursday with the Rev. L. David Almleaf officiating. Interment will take place at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211.
