Obituary of Dorothy Irene Calhoun

Dorothy Irene Calhoun, 82, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at her residence. She was born in Gloversville on January 31, 1925 the daughter of George and Ellen Schrum Richardson. Dorothy was a former member of the Moose Lodge, the Foresters and the Bleecker Fish & Game Club. She enjoyed traveling, word find and crossword puzzles and most of all being with her family and friends. Survivors include her six children, Ruth Smith and her husband Herb of East Greenbush, Larry Alkinburgh and his wife Shirley of Johnstown, June Ruby and her husband Richard of Meco, Carol Murray and her husband William of Gloversville, Donna VanAlstyne and her husband Earl ?Skip? of Gloversville and Gene ?Buddy? Alkinburgh of California; twenty grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Oscar Alkinburgh, and their son, Dean, and her grandson, William Murray, Jr. Three brothers, George, Howard and William and two sisters, Jane and Virginia, died before her. Visitation will be held Thursday May 17, 2007 from 6 to 8 PM at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 AM at the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Hamm officiating. Burial will follow in King Northampton Cemetery.
