Jackie, I was saddened to hear of your very sudden loss. Jack was always very nice to me, during my first tour of duty in Monroe County. Shortly after he retired I took another bite of the apple but have retired again for the last time. Our prayers are with you and I am so pleased that he had a few years to enjoy life.

Jackie,
Please accept mysincere condolences. When I first became an assessor, jack took me under his wing and was so very helpful. All the years he served as county director I appreciated his guidance, support and friendship. Even when we disagreed on issues it was always with respect. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. I was much surprised and saddened to browse the newspaper online and learn of Jack's death. He & I were friends in the 1960's, but hadn't been in touch for many years. I always hoped I'd run into Jack when visiting family at Sacandaga. A sweet guy. My condolences to his wife and family.

Jackie,
I am so profoundly sorry for your loss. Jack was such a wonderful man. I thought of both of you often. I remember all of the great times and many laughs we all had years ago. You were both very fortunate to have found each other and made such a beautiful life together. May the memories of this soft spoken, kind man be a comfort to you and may God hold Jack softly in his hands until you can be together again.

We are so sorry for your loss. Jack was a good citizen of our Fish House. When I saw him on the street I would ask him if he was walking the dog or if the dog was walking him. His response was that it was a little of both. I didn't know Jack was SMI '61. I'm SMI '65. We must have passed many times in the halls. It wasn't a big place. Our prayers are with him and you.

To the family of Jack Shuttleworth:
I am deeply and profoundly saddened by the passing of Jack. We spent so many hours together as kids and classmates at SMI. Jack kept me happy and his laugh was infectious. Regardless of our geographical separation for so many years, I know that when I next saw him, it would be as if time had not passed and we would renew our friendship within minutes and be laughing together for many hours. He was truly one of the finest of God's creation and I will miss knowing he's with us. May God comfort you in your grief. Joe Fondacaro, SMI class of 1961
"Shutts": I will miss you even though we didn't see each other that often. Thank you for being you - you made my memories of our times together at SMI as vivid as life today. I loved you like a brother and will never forget you.

Jackie,
I am so very sorry to hear of Jack's passing. Gail was so thoughtful to call me personally to let me know rather than reading about his death in the paper. It was heartbreaking to listen as she described your last hours together. Please know the support you will need in the coming days can be found through your families as well as Jack's friends, former employees and co-workers. All are a blessing. With sincere condolences and prayer, Bonnie

I am so sorry to hear about Jack passing away. I used to work with him so many years ago in the Tax Map Office in Johnstown. He was a great boss. He always spoke so highly of you and how the two of you celebrated your anniversary by going to the "Cape". He also was very proud of his home on the Sacandaga and the enjoyment he got by being near the water. Take care and may God be with you during this very difficult time. Sylvia Van Volkenburg Pierce

To Jackie and Jack's family,
I am greatly saddened by Jack's untimely death. I would like you to know how important he was to my life and career. I have known Jack since the early 70's before either one of us was a County Director. We both sold real estate for the same company in Amsterdam, NY. When I applied for the County Director position in Montgomery County in 1983, Jack was already in Fulton County and he was very supportive, encouraging and even a reference for me. The interviewers were very impressed. He also wrote a personal letter to ORPS touting my qualifications. He was my mentor and the reason I have been successful in this political business. The Northeast Regional County Directors started their annual Saratoga Race Course day for Jack's retirement. We called it "Say Goodbye to Jack at the Track Day". I think he picked all the winners that day. The NERDs will call that special day "Jack at the Track Day" forevermore. I admired him so much. He was a very, very good and special man. I will miss him dearly. My heartfelt condolences go to his family.
