Obituary of Congetta L. King
Mrs. Congetta ?Connie? L. King age 88, formerly of Gloversville, died Sunday at St. Mary?s Hospital, Amsterdam. She was born June 9, 1918 in Gloversville, daughter of the late Dominic and Mary Gentile Cristiano. Mrs. King was educated in Gloversville schools and earlier in her life demonstrated a strong interest and ability in athletics, especially in school. She was employed as a glove worker, retiring from the former Mario Papa & Sons Glove Co. several years ago. Connie was a devoted wife and sister with continued strength in her family ties.
She was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church and a former member of the Women?s Society of the church. Her husband William King pre-deceased her.
Survivors include two sisters: Ida Ray Hazzard of Johnstown and Anna MacGowan also of Johnstown. She is also survived by her brother Dr. George Jeanne Cristiano of Summerville, New Jersey, several nieces and nephews. Mrs. King was pre-deceased by her sisters: Mollie Wollach, Sperenza Cristiano, Rose Mannino, Margie Polombo, and Frances Colletta.
Calling hours will be private and at the convenience of her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Wednesday at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Mt. Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, or to St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church Building Fund, 149 S. Main Street, Gloversville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.
