Obituary of Violet R. Frye

Mrs. Violet R. Frye, 78 of Gloversville, died Thursday at Nathan Littauer Hospital. Born December 22, 1928 in Gloversville, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Iva Swart Marlitt. She was educated in Johnstown schools and was employed as a glove worker. Mrs. Frye had been employed at the former Mario Papa & Sons Glove Co., Leon F. Swears Glove Co., and lastly employed at Hawkins Fabrics in Johnstown. A devoted family person she especially enjoyed her grandchildren with whom she shared many of her interests, including candy making and various crafts. Violet spent many hours knitting, crocheting and sewing. Perhaps one of her greatest passions was her beloved New York Mets, who she followed religiously. Violet was also a past member of the former Mayfield Serviceman?s Club. She is survived by her children: Linda Paul of Perth, Ruth Yorks of Gloversville, Harvey M. Frye of Gloversville and Tammy Kennedy of Ephratah. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two great great granddaughters, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Frye was pre-deceased by her husband Harvey Frye in 1986 and several brothers and sisters. Her loving cat ?Susan? will miss her dearly. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held 10 am Saturday at Mayfield Cemetery with Reverend R.W. Williams officiating. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.
