Obituary of Kenneth H. Shambo

Kenneth H. Shambo, 80, of Glen Ave, Scotia, NY formerly of Amsterdam, NY, passed away Friday June 15, 2007 at home following a brief illness. Born in Willsboro, NY on June 17, 1926 a son of Howard and Elizabeth K. Murphy Shambo. He grew up in Willsboro and was a graduate of Willsboro High School. Mr. Shambo moved to Schenectady N.Y. and was employed for over 25 years at General Electric Co. in Schenectady as a Test man in the Steam and Gas Turbine Division. He moved to Amsterdam, NY when he was married in 1953. Mr. Shambo was a communicant of the former St. Joseph?s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed gardening, carpentry and being a New York Mets Fan. He married Teresa Rigatti Shambo on April 19, 1953, she passed away on December 2, 1995. He is survived by one son, John H. Shambo of Swan Point, Maryland. One daughter, Karen McGannPatrick of Scotia, NY. Two brothers, Robert Shambo of Plattsburgh, NY and Donald Shambo of Willsboro, NY. Two sisters, Margaret MacDougal of Essex, NY and Anne Rosse of Saratoga Springs, NY. One granddaughter, Kaitlin McGann. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Mr. Shambo was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Batten and John Shambo. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday June 19, 2007 at 10:15A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, St. John St., Amsterdam, NY with Father Pascal Iannotti as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Ft. Johnson, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday June 18, 2007 from 5:00 to 8:00P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady County or to the St. Mary?s Hospital Foundation both c/o the funeral home.
