Obituary of William G. Yurkewecz

William G. Yurkewecz Sr., 88, formerly of Route 30A, Glen died early Sunday, June 24, 2007 at the Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown. Born in the Town of Glen on February 22, 1919 he was the son of the late Charles and Helen Yurkewecz. He was a lifelong area resident and for the past 70 years has farmed the land in the Town of Glen. He will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, the former Jacqueline VanAlstyne, whom he married on April 29, 1950; three daughters, Bonnie Couture Michael of Fultonville, Melanie Gessinger Raymond of Fultonville, Jody Yurkewecz of South Carolina; two sons, William G. Yurkewecz Jr. Cindy Boyer and Randy Yurkewecz, all of Fultonville; one sister, Mary Ripley William of Amsterdam; two brothers, Howard Yurkewecz Delores of Amsterdam, Eugene Yurkewecz of Fultonville; 11 grandchildren, Justin, Jarred, Joshua, Seth, Bethany, Eli, Zoey, Tori, William III, Charles, Samantha; three great grandchildren, Tyler, Nikolas, Natalia; many nieces, nephews and cousins. William was predeceased by one sister; Anna Studley and two brothers; Barney Yurkewecz and Charles Yurkewecz. There are no calling hours or funeral services. William will return to the homestead that he loved. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made in his memory to the Alzheimer?s Association, 85 Watervliet Avenue, Albany, NY 12206.
