Obituary of Edna G. Gavrilcukas
Edna G. Gavrilcukas, 84, of Academy Street, passed away Tuesday morning at her home with her family at her side.
Born in Amsterdam on July 14, 1922, she was the daughter and last surviving child of Peter and Patricia Jakaitis Dubicke. Edna attended local schools and lived here her entire life. A home maker, she worked for a time for Esquire Novelty. She was a communicant of St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Living Rosary Society and St. Casimir?s Ladies Auxiliary. At one time, Edna belonged to the former American Lithuanian Club Ladies Auxiliary. In her spare time, she loved to play cards and tend to her houseplants.
On November 14, 1948 she was united in marriage to William Gavrilcukas who predeceased her on November 28, 1966.
Also, her brother Bennie Dubicke, sister Gladys Ossenfort and grandnephew Peter Ossenfort as well as her parents, predeceased her.
Her loving family includes her children; Kenneth R. Gavrilcukas of Gloversville, Keith L. Gavrilcukas and Donna L. Gavrilcukas ; grandson, Jim Gavrilcukas all of Amsterdam; nephews; Billie Ossenfort and Dennis Dubicke; grand and great grand nieces, nephews and cousins .
Services are Saturday at 8:45 Am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Funeral Mass which will be offered at 9:30 Am at St. Casimir?s Church. Fr. Pascal Iannotti, celebrant. Interment is in the Parish Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, June 29, 2007 from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. St. Casimir?s Lady Auxiliary will meet 6:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home for services. Contributions may be made to St. Casimir?s Memorial Fund or the Community Hospice Of Amsterdam, both in care of the funeral home office.
