Obituary of Robert J. Machold

Amsterdam, NY?Robert J. Machold, 77, of Sunset Road, passed away Friday morning at the St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam after a short illness. Born August 13, 1929 in Amsterdam, New York, he was the son of the late P. Bernard and Frances Douglas Machold. He was a life long resident of Amsterdam and he was a St. Mary?s Institute graduate. Bob was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and served with the 82nd Airborne. He was employed as a welder for the General Electric Company in Schenectady retiring a number of years ago. Bob loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of the John J. Wyzomirski Post 701 American Legion and the Bigelow Weavers Club. Survivors include his brother Walter J. Machold and his wife Barbara of Ocala, Florida; two sisters- in- laws, Chris Machold of Lakeland, Florida and Patricia Machold of Fort Johnson; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Bob was predeceased by two brothers, John Machold and Fred Machold. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of St. Mary?s Cemetery, in Fort Johnson. There will be no calling hours. Cremation has taken place at the Vale Crematory in Schenectady, NY. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob?s memory to a charity of one?s choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY.
