Obituary of Anna Stearns
Mrs. Anna Stearns, 96, formerly of Carlisle Road, Flat Creek, NY entered into eternal rest on July 24, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam, NY.
Born in New York City on May 12, 1911 she was the daughter of the late Vito and Angelina Rappa Damico. Anna was employed for over 45 years for Beech- Nut in Canajoharie as a machine operator.
A devoted woman of faith, she was a parishioner of St. Peter & Paul's Roman Catholic Church where she was also a member of the Rosary Society. Anna was also a member of The Catholic Daughters of America, and the 25 Year Club at Beech- Nut.
On November 30, 1935 she was united in marriage to Carl A. Stearns. That union lasted nearly 65 years until his passing on August 9, 2000. She was also predeceased by her sister, Margaret M. Vianese and a brother, Christopher Damico.
Survivors include her daughter, Anna Mae Douglass and her husband Jack of Marshville, NY; four sisters, Mary Thomassen and Marion Vianese of Canajoharie, NY; Angie Damico and Vitta Davis and her husband Gene, all of Flat Creek, NY; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 27, 2007 at 11a.m. at St. Peter & Paul?s Roman Catholic Church, Cliff Street, with the Rev. William Gaffigan as celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 2 until 4 Thursday Today at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego, Street Canajoharie. A Legacy Candle Ceremony will be conducted at 4p.m. to conclude the calling period. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to Shrine of North American Martyrs in care of the funeral home office.
