Obituary of David H. Jones

David H. Jones, Sr., 66, of Garlock Street, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Marshville July 24, 1941 a son of Barbara Goodemote Jones and the late Herbert Jones who passed away on August 5, 2006. David was a life resident of the Canajoharie area. He worked for Frontier Telephone Company in Johnstown for several years. He married the former Josephine DeLuise on September 2, 1961. David was a life member of the NRA, and was a member of the Canajoharie Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid hunter and fisher who enjoyed spending time in the outdoors. David was a very talented woodworker. He could often be found building or refinishing furniture, especially if it was made from his favorite type of wood, which was solid oak. He was especially proud of the grandfather clock and tractor which he devoted a lot of time building on his own. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Besides his mother, Barbara Jones, David is survived by his wife, Josephine J. Jones of Canajoharie, two sons, David H. Jeanette Jones, Jr. of Canajoharie and Richard L. Michelle Jones of Fonda, a daughter, Barbara Lynn Sellers James McCann of Warsaw, NC, two brothers, Daniel Jones of Denver, CO and Clark Jones of West Virginia, four sisters, Beth Fassett of East Springfield, NY, Karen Cromie of Arizona, Diane Jones of Westchester, NY and Robin Saltsman of Canajoharie, five grandchildren, James and Lacy Hubschmitt, Laura Jones, and Christopher and Ashlee Jones, and one step-grandson, James Quackenbush. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services will be at 7:00PM on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317 with the Rev. Gail Wholling officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday Evening, prior to the service, from 5:00 to 7:00PM at the funeral home.
