Obituary of Roger E. Petoff
Mr. Roger E. Petoff, age 82 of Broadalbin, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday morning, July 31, 2007.
He was born on May 9, 1925 in the Santanoni Preserve in Newcomb, NY, the son of the late Charles and Pena Russeva Petoff. Roger was a lifelong resident of Broadalbin and was a graduate of Broadalbin Central School. An active gardener, he worked on the Petoff Farm with his father for many years. He retired in 1987 as a Supervisor in the Gas Turbine Division at General Electric Company in Schenectady following 35 years of service there.
Mr. Petoff was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Broadalbin, the Quarter Century Club at GE and the IUE Local #301. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was always busy working at his job, around the farm, the house, or helping someone working on a project. He was known as a perfectionist, and could fix just about anything.
Roger was married on June 13, 1948 to Beverly E. Frederick who died March 20, 2006.
He is survived by eight children, Ronald Petoff of Rockport, MA; Linda Petoff of Corinth, VT; Brian Petoff Ingrid of Broadalbin, Eric Petoff Joy of Hinesville, GA; Julie Faville Scott of Gloversville, Gregg Petoff of Broadalbin, Steven Petoff Mary of Mayfield and Suzanne Petoff of Mayfield; a brother, George L. Petoff Marjorie of Seattle, WA; a sister, Marina Smith of Gloversville; his stepmother-in-law, Ruth Frederick of Gloversville;13 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by an infant sister in Bulgaria in 1914.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 8pm Thursday at Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main St; Broadalbin. A Funeral Service will be held at 10am Friday, August 3, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church, Broadalbin, with the Rev. Linda Martin officiating. Interment will take place at Broadalbin Mayfield Rural Cemetery, Broadalbin. The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd; Albany, NY; 12205.
