Obituary of Locksey L. Rorick

Locksey L. Rorick passed away peacefully at her residence August 1, 2007 surrounded by friends and family. She was born September 20, 1951 to the late Frank and Hazel Gordon Sparks in Gloversville. She graduated from Gloversville High School. Early in her life she was employed by Robison-Smith for several years. For the past 27 years she worked as a ward clerk on the third floor of Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville. She enjoyed visits to the casino, scratch-off lotto and home decorating. She was a take-charge person in every situation. Always available to help others, Locksey donated much of her time participating in various charitable events, showing her support for many organizations over the years, sharing those moments with her granddaughters. Survivors include her daughter, Amy Ward of Fonda; son David Rorick, Jr. of Caroga Lake; two brothers: Drew Szabo of Broadalbin and Gordon Sparks of Ephratah; four sisters: Julia Hull of Mayfield, Margaret Button, Prudence Oare and Nida Chiariello all of Gloversville; two grandchildren: Ivy Frank and Bianca Rorick; several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Sparky. She is predeceased by her brother, Kevin Sparks. Locksey married David Rorick, Sr. on May 25, 1971. A special thank you is given to all dear friends and family who have been so supportive throughout her illness. Family and friends are invited and may call on Monday, August 6th between 1-3 pm and 5-8 pm at Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Donations may be made in Locksey?s memory to Nathan Littauer Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 586, Gloversville, NY 12078 or Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078. Cremation will take place at Park View Crematorium in Schenectady. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date to be announced.
