Obituary of Frank Marotta
Frank Marotta, 88, of N.W. 55th Street, Coral Springs, Fla., passed away early Sunday morning at his residence after a long illness.
Born in Amsterdam on Dec. 14, 1918, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary Angela St. John Marotta. Educated locally, he entered the US Army in 1942 where he served as a mechanic instructor. Following his move to Florida fifty five years ago, he began a long career as a mechanic for Eastern Airlines. While in Florida, Frank served as Grand Knight for the Knights Of Columbus in Kissimmee, Fla. where he resided. He was a communicant of Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church in Florida and Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel in Amsterdam.
An avid sports enthusiast, he volunteered for the Little League baseball spring training in Kissimmee. Although he lived in Florida these many years, he often fondly remembered his days on Amsterdam?s South Side.
His beloved wife, Mary Alyce Hicks Marotta predeceased him on Dec. 17, 2005. Also, siblings, James, Alfred, Theodore, Joseph, Michael, Herman and Richard Marotta, sisters, Elizabeth Rosetti and Rose Marotta predeceased him.
He leaves his brother Ralph and his wife Phyllis Marotta of Amsterdam and a sister, Helen and her husband Anthony Perry of Louisville, Texas, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass which will be celebrated by Fr. Pascal A. Iannotti on Tuesday, August 14, at 9:15 am at St. Michael The Archangel Church, Grove St. Interment will follow in St. Michael?s Cemetery with military honors. It was Frank?s request that there be no calling hours. Contributions may be made in his memory to Community Hospice Of Amsterdam, or to Mt. Carmel or St. Michael?s Church.
