Obituary of Andre D. Sims

Andre D. Sims, 40, of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at New York Presbyterian Hospital of Columbia University in New York City following a long illness. He was born in Cincinnati, OH on February 1, 1967 son of Gretta Jones Fowle and the late Calvin Sims. Andre was raised and graduated High School in Cincinnati before relocating to the Amsterdam area in the late 1980?s. He attended the Criminal Justice program at Fulton-Montgomery Community College. He was employed as a bookmaker at Original Works in Amsterdam. Andre loved animals. He had dogs, fish, and lizards of his own which were like members of his family. He also enjoyd playing video games, outdoor activities, watching sports on ESPN and spending time with his family and many friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. His loving family includes his mother, Gretta Fowle of Cincinnati, his fiancé, Tonya Leonard of Amsterdam, two sons, Taliq Sims of Amsterdam and Rizel Sims of Broadalbin, a brother, Reginald Fowle of the Bronx and four step-children, Monika, Rebekah, Dominic and Jonathon. Funeral Services will be at 10:30AM on Monday, August 13, 2007 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the funeral service from 9:30 to 10:30AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam. Donations in Andre?s memory may be made to the Sims family in c/o the funeral home.
