Obituary of Esther R. Taylor
Esther R. Taylor Ceperley, 74, of Northampton Rd., passed away late Wednesday evening at Ellis Hospital. Her loving family was at her side.
Born in Syracuse, NY on Feb. 12, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Hoyt and Bernice Blair Taylor. Educated there, she moved to Amsterdam fifty years ago. For many years, Esther served as a residence counselor for Liberty, a position she cherished. Later, she worked for Amsterdam Printing and lastly for Almor before retiring ten years ago.
She enjoyed crafts and cooking, and was the ultimate grandma, and more recently, great grandma.
Her loving family includes her daughters; Lee A. McMurray, Laurie and her husband John Lansing all of Amsterdam; grandchildren; Melissa Ian Scott, Tricia Batey, Heather Tim Ryczek, Brianne McMurray and Justin Lansing; great grandchildren, Aaron and Tess Batey, Devin and Hailey Scott; brothers; Hoyt Taylor of Liverpool, David Taylor and James Barr of Syracuse, sisters; Bobbie Ginsinger of Washington, DC, and Mary Ann Dix of Syracuse; and the late George Taylor, Albert Barr, Paul Taylor, Connie Caristo and Peggy McLaughlin. Nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved basset hound Heidi, and her cat Socks also survive.
A celebration of her life will take place on Monday at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. The Rev. Cynthia Leonard officiating. Interment is in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 3-6 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in her name to the Montgomery County SPCA in care of the funeral home office.
