Obituary of Richard E. McSpirit

Richard E. ?Dick? McSpirit, 72, passed away on Tuesday August 14, 2007 at his residence in Fonda surrounded by his family. He was born in Mayfield on July 20, 1935 the son of Patrick D. and Lizzie Ida Decker McSpirit. Dick served in the Army from 1958 to 1960. He enjoyed watching stockcar racing and NASCAR. His favorite driver was Rusty Wallace. He loved his dogs, Peanut and Sham, and also loved the many children that looked up to him throughout his lifetime. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family. Survivors include his wife, Susan Sawyer McSpirit of Fonda; seven siblings, William McSpirit, Fremon McSpirit, Patricia Passino and her husband Richard, Thomas McSpirit and his wife Cora, Mabel Ward, Joan Carter and her husband Bob and Fred McSpirit and his companion Judy; a sister-in-law Mary McSpirit and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by three brothers, Earl ?Duke?, Charles and John McSpirit. Visitation will be Thursday, August 16 from 3 to 6 PM from the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY. Graveside services with military honors will be held Friday at 11 AM from Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
