Obituary of John T. Fallis

John T. "Jack" Fallis, retired master plumber, died Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at age 86. He was born September 12, 1920 to Servantes and Catherine Shiels Fallis. He attended Gloversville schools. Following graduation from Voorhees Technical School in 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Force where he served until September 1945 and was discharged as a staff sergeant. Jack returned home to the family business and retired in 1990. During this period, he was a member of the Gloversville Plumbing Board, serving as its president for three consecutive terms. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church also serving as a member of the Social Club. Jack was a life member of both the Knights of Columbus and Concordia Club. Jack enjoyed his family, winter sports, camping and the Adirondacks. He is survived by his wife Mildred Mickey Seelow Fallis of Gloversville, whom he married October 24, 1942; a daughter, Linda Hammond of Gloversville; a sister, Jean Unislawski of Gloversville and six grandchildren: Douglas Furlong, Beth Furlong Margolis, Michelle Furlong Bortz, Evan Fallis, Erin Fallis Sutton and Jared Hammond. He was predeceased by his brother Ted Fallis; a son, John Fallis, and a daughter, Jacquelyn Fallis Furlong. A prayer service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be at Ferndale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4-7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Jack's memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville or to the Gloversville Public Library, 58 East Fulton Street, Gloversville.
