Obituary of James E. Hayes

James E. Hayes, 81, of Old Johnstown Road passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Berryville on July 11, 1926 son of the late Walter and Abby Nellis Hayes. James was a life resident of the Fonda area. He was a self-employed dairy farmer having lived on the same farm for the past 56 years. Farming was his passion, occupation and way of life. James often joked that being out on his tractor in his fields was like being out on the town on a Saturday night. He enjoyed fielding with his tractor, tractor-pulling and spending time with family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all. His loving family includes his wife of 63 years, the former Blanche Spencer of Fonda whom he married May 7, 1944, his children, Jim Donna Hayes of Johnstown, Larry Denise Hayes of Fonda, Tom Nancy Hayes of Glen, Barney Charlotte Hayes of Johnstown, Richard Hayes of Fonda, Jamie Kevin Davis of Fultonville, Gregg Hayes of Fonda, Kim Joann Hayes of Johnstown, and Mark Hayes of Johnstown, a brother, Charles June Hayes of Newport, and a sister, Lucille Barker of Johnstown. 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral Services will be at 10:00AM on Friday, August 17, 2007 at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY 12072. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Interment will follow services in Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda.
