Obituary of Dorothy Frascatore
Dorothy Frascatore R.N., 81, of Locust Avenue, passed away Friday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital.
Born in Amsterdam on January 12, 1926, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Dorothy Kolasinski Ashley. She was a lifelong area resident and graduated from St. Mary?s Institute in 1944. Dorothy then went on to St. Mary?s Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated with the class of 1947. She then began her long career at St. Mary?s, as a registered nurse and also a clinical instructor before she retired. She also served as the Health Director of the Hospital for a time. Dorothy cherished her profession and was a comfort to many through the years. In her earlier days, she was an avid bowler for several local leagues. Dorothy was an active member of the Amsterdam community and involved herself in many worthy organizations. She served as past president of the American Cancer
Society, the Amsterdam Emblem Club and the Montgomery County SPCA. She was also a member of St. Michael?s Seniors and a communicant of St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church. She also served on the Montgomery County Office of the Aging, Advisory Council.
Her husband Fred Frascatore, whom she married on July 24, 1948, predeceased her on January 1, 1994.
Her loving family includes her daughter; Julie F. Roahrig of Palm Harbor, Fla.; her son; Fred Frascatore of Amsterdam; grandchildren; Erica Harris, Jennifer Frascatore, Kyle and Kevin Roahrig; and nieces and nephews. Her sister, Blanche Gagen predeceased her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass which will offered Tuesday at 9:15 am at St. Mary?s Church. Interment will take place in St. Michael?s Cemetery. Calling hours are today Monday from 6-8 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave. where the Emblem Club will meet at 7:00 pm.
Contributions may be made in Dorothy?s name to the Montgomery Co. SPCA or the American Cancer Society both in care of the funeral home office.
