Obituary of Avis Louise Hogan

Avis Louise Hogan, 73, of W. Main St. Fonda, NY, passed away peacefully at her home following a brief illness on Wednesday August 22, 2007. Born on July 10, 1934 to Lansing and Bertha Thornton, she was a 1951 graduate of Fonda High School and a life long area resident. She received her degree from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY in 1955 and her ADA at St. Luke?s Hospital in New York City. Avis began her career at the Crouse Irving Hospital in Syracuse, NY, and was dedicated to geriatric nutrition at the Montgomery County Home, the Montgomery County Infirmary, and the Wells House in Johnstown, NY where she retired in 2000. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her many close friends. She is survived by three children: one son, Austin L. Hogan and his wife Shannon Aldi-Hogan of Fonda, NY, and two daughters, A. Carolyn Hogan of Fultonville, NY and Alice Louise Baudoin of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; one brother, Lansing Harvey Thornton of Redding, CA; two sisters, Alice Mae Ramby of Brazoria, TX, and Arleta Jane and her husband James E. Moore of San Jose, CA; and her grandson, Lukas M. Wilmot of Fultonville, NY. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was predeceased by her brother Henry Leonard Thornton. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 25, 2007 at 3:00P.M. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St. Fultonville, NY with the Rev. Jay Hine presiding. A private interment will be in Easton Quaker Cemetery, Easton, NY. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice, Gloversville, NY or to the Frothingham Free Library, Main St., Fonda, NY.
