Obituary of Douglas F. Young
Douglas F. Young, 64, of Route 5S, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at Palatine Nursing Home in Palatine Bridge following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Little Falls July 6, 1943, son of Helen Smith Young and the late Edward L. Young.
Doug was raised and attended schools in the Fort Plain area. He was a 1961 graduate of Fort Plain High School and attended Cobleskill College. Doug was a lifelong resident of the area and was of Roman Catholic Faith. He married the former Tana L. Maaser on August 7, 1965 in Fort Plain. He was a self employed farmer for Young Crest Farm in Fort Plain. He was an active member of the American Legion Post#554 and the V.F.W. Post#3275 in Fort Plain. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Little Falls. Doug loved betting on horses, bowling, playing lottery tickets, spending time with his family and taking trips ?downstreet?. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and many friends.
His loving family includes his mother, Helen Young of Fort Plain; his wife, Tana Young of Fort Plain; one son, Scott Lori Young of St. Johnsville; three daughters, Tammy Robert Chittenden of Fort Plain, Jodi Brad Anderson of Colorado and Janine Jason Horning of Fort Plain; two brothers, Edward Patty Young of Palatine Bridge, and Ronald Donna Young of Fort Plain; seven grandchildren, Kaila, Tiffani and Sharissa Hogan, Kaleb and Noah Horning and Tyler and Summer Anderson and three step-grandchildren, Robert and Matthew Chittenden and Hailey Anderson. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00AM on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317 with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00PM to 8:00PM on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Interment will follow the services on Wednesday at Fort Plain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug?s memory may be made to the family in c/o the funeral home.
