Obituary of Edward Czerwiec
Edward Czerwiec 83, of 53rd Avenue East, Bradenton, Florida passed away Thursday morning at his home.
Born in Amsterdam on May 29, 1924, he was the son of Stanley and Mary Dlugosz Czerwiec. He graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School and Albany Business College. During World War II, Ed proudly served his country as a radio operator in the Navy?s Pacific and Atlantic Theater of Operations. Following his honorable discharge, he began a long career as a clerk for Niagara Mohawk Power Inc. He served as Vice President for Ni-Mo?s Local IBW, and was a member of the Polish American Veterans, the John J. Wyszomirski Post 701 American Legion and the St. Michael?s Society of St. Stanislaus? R.C. Church, of which he was a parishioner. Ed made his home in Florida since 1997, and since that time, he and his wife Helen enjoyed traveling back north each summer to visit with family and friends.
He leaves his beloved wife, Helen Alexander Stewart Czerwiec whom he married on June 29, 1996. He is also survived by his stepchildren; Frances Robert Sobkowicz of Johnstown, John Lori Stewart of Gloversville, Robert Patty Stewart of Orlando, Fla., William Tina Stewart of Killdevil, Hills, N.C., and Mary ThomasFleming of Johnstown; seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Services are Friday, August 31st at 8:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Funeral Mass which will be offered at 9:30 am at St. Stanislaus? Church. Fr. David Mickiewicz, celebrant. Interment will follow with military honors in St. Stanislaus? Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday Aug. 30th from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in his name to the Shrine Of North American Martyrs, Auriesville, in care of the funeral home.
