Obituary of Ruth A. Delaney
Ruth A. Delaney, 77, died peacefully Thursday, August 30, 2007 at home after a short illness, with her loving family and friends at her side.
Born February 2, 1930 in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of the late Richard W. and Grace Muzzy Brown. A graduate of Gloversville High School and Wilson School of Medical Technology, Boston, Massachusetts.
Mrs. Delaney was employed at the Nathan Littauer Hospital for several years. Later while her children were attending Mayfield Central Schools she was employed by the district working in the cafeteria.
Ultimately she followed her passion for the outdoors working both at the Union Rural Cemetery and for Lohse Florist in Gloversville.
She was of the Methodist Faith and a life long member of the Mayfield Methodist church and the church Bykota Circle Club. Additionally, she was for many years associated with scouting serving as an assistant leader for both the Mayfield area Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
Ruth was extremely dedicated to her family attending every possible sporting event throughout their school years. Later she passionately followed her Grandchildren, who were her absolute pride and joy. When not attending an athletic event she could be found relaxing at one of he favorite fishing holes.
Ruth was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Burton E. Delaney in 2004.
She is survived by her two sons, Timothy E. and his wife Tina of Mayfield; Michael B. and his wife, Tracey of Lake Luzerne; and by her extremely dedicated and devoted daughter, Mariann and her husband, Mark of Mayfield. Sister, Lois Frank Ferrazzano of Warren, Rhode Island and Sister in Laws, Sally Brown of Lafayette, Louisiana and Leona E. Delaney of Mayfield.
Very cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Dustin and Garret Delaney, Mayfield; Amy and Mitchell Brower, also of Mayfield; and Jordan and Mackenzie Delaney of Gloversville. She was predeceased by brothers Richard W. and W. Farnum Brown. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, September 4th, from 4:00 ? 7:00 PM at the Walrath and Stewert Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. New York. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 5th at 1:00 PM at the Foothills United Methodist Church, 17 Fremont Street, Gloversville, New York. Burial will follow the service at the Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield.
