Obituary of Philippa M. Fisher

Philippa M. Fisher, 77, of Amsterdam and formerly of Johnstown passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam. She was born in Amsterdam on February 10, 1930 daughter of the late William and Mary Sullivan LaGoy. Philippa was raised and attended schools in the Amsterdam area and was a 1948 graduate of Amsterdam High School. She married Frederick Fisher of Johnstown in 1953. Philippa and Frederick stayed in the Johnstown area for several years where they worked and raised their family. For a short period of time they owned and operated a small diner in Johnstown. Philippa then went to work for General Tell in Johnstown before becoming ill and having to retire early. She enjoyed buying and selling antiques, entering local radio contests and spending time with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Besides her parents, Philippa was predeceased by her husband, Frederick in 1994 and a sister, Joan, LaGoy. Her loving family includes her son and his wife, Kevin and Elaine Fisher of Amsterdam, a granddaughter, Haley Fisher of Amsterdam, a brother, William MaryAnn LaGoy of Amsterdam, and a sister, Margaret Allen of Circleville. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services will be at 12:00 Noon on Friday, September 7, 2007 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, prior to the services from 10:00AM to 12:00 Noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Johnstown Cemetery. A special Thank You goes out to the staff and to Philippa?s friends at Park Hill, Mount Loretto and St. Mary?s Hospital.
