Obituary of Mary M. Craig

Mary M. Craig, 98, of Robb Road, Amsterdam, passed away peacefully Thursday September 6, 2007 at Mt. Loretto Nursing Home in Amsterdam, where she has resided for the last 6 months. Born in Amsterdam, New York on May 11, 1909 she was a daughter of Henry L. and Daisy L. Hall Mathias. She was a lifelong resident of Amsterdam and attended Amsterdam schools. Mrs. Craig was employed for many years by the former Mohawk Sportswear Co. and also worked for a time for the former Mohasco Corp. both in Amsterdam. Mary was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed gardening and animals. She was very fond of her two pet dogs, Yukon and Molly. Her husband, David Craig, pre-deceased her many years ago. Survivors include her loving daughter, Pam Sperbeck and her husband Austin, of Amsterdam and one cherished grandson, Matthew Howenstein and his wife Sue, of Amsterdam. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Gerald L. and Howard Mathias. Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, New York.
