Obituary of Ann Luzon
Ann Luzon, 85, formerly of Slater Street, passed away Tuesday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital, shortly after arrival. Ann had recently made her home at Hillcrest Springs in Amsterdam.
Born in Amsterdam on July 26, 1922, she was the daughter of the late William and Ona Anna Gustas Grabauskas. A 1940 graduate of St. Mary?s Institute, she later graduated from business school. Ann was first employed by the General Electric Company, and later, for many years worked for the former Miller?s Clothing Store as a bookkeeper. She retired at the age of seventy two. She then went on to volunteer with the Amen Soup Kitchen of her parish, St. Casimir?s. Ann was a member of the church?s Living Rosary Society and Club 60 at St. Mary?s Hospital. A wonderful cook and baker, she delighted in sharing her baked goods with her family and many friends.
Ann cherished the memories of travel that she enjoyed, Hawaii, Europe and especially her ancestral homeland, Lithuania.
Her husband, Ralph Luzon predeceased her in 1978.
She leaves her beloved daughter, Claudia and her husband David Maryzak ; grandson Eric Maryzak and Aimee Poremba all of Amsterdam ; nieces, cousins and friends.
Her brother, Anthony Grebb, and sister, Frances Stanionis predeceased her as well.
Services are Friday at 10:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00 am at St. Casimir?s Church. Interment is in St. Casimir?s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday morning from 9:00 am to 10:15 prior to services. Contributions may be made to St. Mary?s Hospital Foundation, in care of the funeral home office.
