Obituary of Michael Cataffo

Mr. Michael Cataffo, age 96, a resident of Gloversville for many years, died Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam. He was born July 26, 1911 in Naples, Italy, the son of the late Louis and Mary Ciaccio Cataffo. Michael came to this country at the age of eleven. He lived in Gloversville most of his life, and also resided in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for ten years until returning to Johnstown a year ago to reside at PineView Commons. He was employed by the former Bachmo-Postman Glove Company and Aris Glove Company, and operated Cataffo Glove Company for many years. Mr. Cataffo was a member of Saint Mary of Mount Carmel Church. He was known as a firm believer of ?doing hard work and plenty of it?. Michael was married on July 29, 1934 to Flora R. Cristiano, who died May 16, 1993. He is survived by his son, Louis M. Cataffo of Johnstown; a brother, Anthony Cataffo Patricia of Amsterdam; two granddaughters, Kathryn Cataffo of Gloversville and Taylor Cataffo of New York City; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mario Cataffo. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 pm Thursday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a prayer service will be held at 10 am Friday. Entombment will take place in the family mausoleum at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
