Obituary of Mary Thomassen
Mrs. Mary Thomassen, 94, of Carlisle Road, entered into eternal rest Monday, September 17, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam.
Born on August 3, 1913 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Vito and Angelina Rappa Damico. Mary worked for over 30 years for the Luxuray in Ft. Plain.
A devoted woman of faith, she was a parishioner of St. Peter & Paul's Roman Catholic Church where she was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Mary was also a member of the Court Esther Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Grange.
On June 11, 1949 she was united in marriage to Harlow ?Tommy? Thomassen. That union lasted 50 years until his passing on April 22, 1999. She was also predeceased by her brother,
Christopher Damico, and her sisters, Margaret Vianese and Anna Stearns.
Her loving family includes her sisters, Marion Vianese of Canajoharie, Vitta Davis and her husband Gene of Flat Creek, and her twin sister, Angie Damico of Flat Creek; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 21, 2007 at 10am at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Peter & Paul?s Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Gaffigan as celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2:30pm until 6pm at the funeral home. A service of remembrance will take place at 5:30pm. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the church or Mid County Ambulance in care of the funeral home.
