Obituary of Charles George Sharmose

Charles George Sharmose, 93, of Wilbur Street, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 21, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam. He was born in Amsterdam on September 4, 1914 a son of the late Felix F. and Katherine V. Bakucionis Sharmavicius Sharmose. Charles was a life resident and attended school in the Amsterdam area. He was of Catholic faith and was a communicant of St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church. He worked as a machinist for General Electric as well as working for Electric Metrics in Amsterdam. During his spare time he even worked part time in his brother?s tavern, The Shamrock in Amsterdam. Charles loved animals having trained several dogs and even a rabbit. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Charles, was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Felix Sarnowicz, Benjamin Sharmose, and Helen Prylo. His loving family includes his beloved wife of 40 years, Betty May Kline Sharmose of Amsterdam, a son, Charles G. Sharmose, Jr. of LasVegas, and 4 nephews and their spouses, Mr. & Mrs. James Sarnowicz, Mr. & Mrs. Raymond Sarnowicz, Mr. & Mrs. Frank Trzeciak, and Mr. & Mrs. John Prylo. Several great nieces, nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be at 8:45 AM on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30AM from St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church on East Main Street with Rev. Pascal Iannotti as celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
