Obituary of Earl Hillman
Earl Hillman, 88, of Lake Placid, FL, formerly of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2007 at his home. He was born in Minaville on November 9, 1918 a son of the late Ivan and Anna O. Hovemeyer Hillman.
Earl was raised and attended school in the Amsterdam area. He worked as a truck driver for Cady Company in Amsterdam for several years. Following his retirement, Earl relocated to Florida in 1981 where he enjoyed the warm weather year round. He was a member and officer of the B.P.O.E. in Florida, and managed the Lakeside MHP for 25 years. Earl enjoyed visiting Amsterdam every year until 2 years ago when he became ill with Leukemia which prevented him from traveling north to see his many friends and family.
Earl was predeceased by his loving wife, Virginia, in 1976, and two sons, Sgt. Thomas Hillman in 1973, and Warren Hillman in 2000.
His loving family includes his son, James and his wife Laura, a daughter, Deidre and her companion, Harry, his present wife, and six grandchildren, Jim Jr., Chuckie, Danny, Jessica, Rebecca and Darryl. Ten great-grandchildren also survive.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Perth Cemetery in Perth. Donations in Earl?s memory may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA, PO Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
