Sorry to hear about Mel. I worked with him during my high school and college days at JJ's 20 years ago.
I remember his kindness and always enjoyed making him laugh. He had a great laugh. He was dedicated to his job and will remain in the thoughts of those who have worked at and frequented the restaurant in the last 30 plus years.

I am a Scotia Police Officer. I was so sorry to hear about Mel. I knew he was sick, but didn't know it was that serious. I'll miss seeing him at Jumpin' Jacks. The place won't be the same without him. He always had a "hello" and a kind word. Mark Lansing put a nice tribute to him on the marquee at the restaurant. Please accept my condolences.

I worked with Mel at JJ's for a few years starting way back in 1976. I always liked Mel. He was fair and had a great sense of humor. He also used to love cheesecake and every year he'd pay my mother to make him at least one! I'm sorry for your loss. He was a real nice guy!

I worked at Jumpin' Jack's with Mel during various summers between 1975 and 1985. Mel was always a fun-loving guy who was willing to help others and teach younger people about the job and more importantly about life. He will be missed.

Uncle Mel will be loved and missed. Jimmy was just talking about when he was little, he used to go Uncle Mel's house for sleep overs. Uncle Mel sold him his first car, and they worked many years together at Jumpin' Jacks. We love you and know you're smiling down on all your loved ones.

I sit and think back to the day Sonny "Mel" came over, after he learned he had cancer, we sat at my table for hrs, laughing sharing stories and some secrets, funny how I know he would have never shared things if he did not know he was ill, I teased him he still had his first dollar he ever made, he raised his brows and laughed, we talked alot about Ma and I assured him she will be waiting for him with open arms. This past summer Beth took him up to my camp for a visit and he walked twords me, Beth says he stayed in bed all day yesterday just so he be able to walk when he got here, I said to him, like I have many times before, be positive your still here don't give up on what you like to do, he did just that, I was thrilled to learn he been to a race, playing back on his computer "pino" and going to football games, he traveled to NY to see the statue of liberty, they made many memories together, nobody can take them away, that is something Beth will always have.
I shed some tears, I feel a loss, even though he no longer is with us, he is in good hands, sometimes I think we are selfish because we want to hang onto everyone forever.
Love what you have right in front of you, we take so much for granted.
Please for me, when you start to shed that tear, remember to laugh at what he shared, remember the fun times.. IM just rambling on and on, is this making any sense, guess what IM really saying.. I love you Sonny and I will miss you.
Love your sister Barbara
