Obituary of Helen Mary Steenburg

Helen Mary Steenburg, 83, passed away Monday, October 1, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam. She was born in Gloversville on March 5, 1924 the daughter of the late George M. and Mary Kenny Bennett. In her earlier years, Helen was employed by Grandoe Corp. in Gloversville. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Gloversville. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren. Helen was married to Clarence Steenburg, together they had six children. He passed away in 1989. Survivors include four sons, John Steenburg Joanne of Dolgeville, NY, Paul Steenburg Kathy of Schenectady, James Steenburg of Gloversville and Richard Steenburg Janet also of Gloversville; three daughters, Maryann Mussen Irving of New Hampshire, Carol Sweet Roy of Mayfield and Joanne Kiffney Edward of Gloversville; a brother, Richard Bennett of Johnstown; two sisters, Shirley LaVallee of Gloversville and Theresa Morrison of Speculator, NY; twenty-two grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, George Bennett. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 4, 2007 from 4 to 7PM at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 AM from Sacred Heart Church in Gloversville. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville. Donations may be made to the charity of one?s choice in memory of Helen.
