Obituary of Aurora Montenaro
Aurora Montenaro, 82, of McQuade Road, was called by the Lord to join her beloved husband, Peter, in eternal life on Wednesday, October 3, 2007. She was born in Schenectady on July 20, 1925 daughter of the late Anthony and Felecia DiMuro Cantore.
Aurora was a life resident of the area. She was of Roman Catholic faith and was a member and communicant of St. Mary?s Church in Amsterdam. She married Peter L. Montenaro, Jr. on June 5, 1948. He predeceased her after nearly 50 years of marriage on April 2, 1995.
In her earlier years, Aurora worked for Ward Products And Collett?s Manufacturing, and, she and her husband, Peter, owned and operated Montenaro?s Catering, Coffee Truck and Montenaro?s Tower Inn in Amsterdam. She later was employed as a baker at Price Chopper in Amsterdam for over 20 years until her retirement in 2000. She was a member of St. Mary?s Church Choir and the Sisters of the Swish. Aurora?s greatest joy in life was her beloved family and her dear friends. Her love, devotion and support in all of their endeavors will be cherished by them all. She will be sadly missed by all of the lives she has touched.
Along with her parents and her husband, Aurora, was predeceased by eleven siblings.
Her loving family includes her children, Peter L. MaryAlice, III of Spencerport, Paul A. Anna of Tribes Hill, James M. of Amsterdam, John L. Phyllis of Amsterdam, Andrew J. Lesley of Hagaman, Marilyn Sawyer of Amsterdam, and Anthony T. Kim of Amsterdam; her grandchildren, Maria Brian Guarraci of Chicago, Gina of Portland, OR, Peter L. , IV of Chicago, Joseph Sawyer of Amsterdam, Matthew of Amsterdam, and Grace and Joshua Montenaro of Hagaman; her great-grandchild, David Joseph Guarraci of Chicago; her sister, Felecia Skelton of Niskayuna and a dear friend, Florence Furman of Amsterdam. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be at 8:30AM on Monday, October 8, 2007 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:15AM at St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00 PM with a prayer service at 4:45PM at the funeral home. Donations in Aurora?s memory may be made to the Amen Soup Kitchen in c/o St. Casimir?s Church, 260 East Main St., Amsterdam, or the Cranesville Fire Department, 167 Riverview Drive, Amsterdam.
