Joe spread happiness to me and my family for four decades. We always left the shop with a smile. We always left the shop knowing more about our Italian heritage. We always left the shop feeling one of an extended family. We are sorry he is gone from us. May God bless you all. We are sorry we could not make the services. John Naple

To the family-
Joe has touched the lives of many people in this area with his long talks about his experiences, knowledge and history. Your family will be forever in our thoughts and prayers. He gave many military haircuts for me and my family and I am forever grateful to know my family history according to Joe. Much love. Please accept our sincere condolences.

DEAREST FRIENDS,
We are very saddened by this news!
I will always remember picking up my newspapers in front of Papa's Barber Shop. As I would gather them each day, Joe would always say, " Stefanina, you are such a good girl. One day you gonna marry one of my sons!" In fact, up until he closed up shop in Amsterdam, he would still say to my daughter, mother and friends, " She wasa my papergirl, and likea my daughter to me!"
He was like a father to me as well. My memories of writing/playing music with both Vito and Tony at the shop are some of the fondest, I have from my childhood. Joe and Tina, Ever-beautiful and Loved, as well as her little angel Gerardo have now been reunited. I have no doubt, that he is now and will always watch over all of his loved ones!!
Joe touched many peoples lives and hearts. His wisdom and advice aided me countless times in my life! Recently, Morganne, my daughter, would visit Joe with mom, on their daily walks. She couldn't wait to see " MR. Speranza"!!
Joe will be missed dearly in our hearts and home!
May you find comfort in knowing how very loved he was, and may your sorrow, be overtaken with the many fond and beautiful memories of this wonderful man.
Forever in our Hearts,
Stefanina, Morganne and Mary Ann!
