Obituary of Nelson Battistini

Nelson Battistini, 85, of Amsterdam NY, has gone to his eternal rest on Saturday, January 14th, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Born on February 3rd, 1931 in Yauco, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Isabel Pietri and Martin Battistini. Nelson attended schools in Puerto Rico and spent many years working in the islands agriculture. He relocated to the area with his family in 1983. He enjoyed trying his luck playing lotto and bingo. He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed music and loved playing poker, black jacks, and dominos with his family and close friends. Nelson was an amazing funny man with a great sense of humor who will be deeply missed. Nelson is survived by his daughters; Yiyi, Tata, Clari, Damaris, and Nani; his sons, Chepo, Miguel, Willy, Papo, Frankie, Reggie, Macho, Tito, and Boro; his sisters Lydia, and Ana; his brother Nelson; 43 grandchildren; and 50 great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Nelson is predeceased by his beloved wife Carmen Oliveras; his parents Isabel and Martin; his daughters Maria and Olga; his sons, Luis and Jonathan; and his brothers, Jule Mateo and Julio. A Funeral Service for Nelson will be held on Wednesday January 18th, 2017 at 12pm at Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY. Interment will immediately follow at St. Michael's the Archangel Cemetery, Widow Susan Road, Amsterdam, NY.
