Obituary of Donald W. Frye

Mr. Donald W. Frye, 73 of Caroga Lake, died suddenly on Saturday, November 17, 2007. He was born November 24, 1933 in Gloversville, son of the late Chester and Ila Lawrence Frye. Mr. Frye was a graduate of Gloversville High School and served in the Army. Don had been employed at Curtin-Hebert Co. for 55 years, most recently as traffic manager. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He had been a member of the Yellow Jackets Drum & Bugle Corps and the Gloversville Moose Lodge, as well as a softball player at Meco Ball Park some years ago. Don was a member of the Space bowling league for many years and golfed regularly with many friends. He and his wife traveled often. He is survived by his wife Vevia Brown Frye of Caroga Lake, whom he married April 23, 1954, his daughters; Ann Phillips of Johnstown and Loriann Michael Lewis of Caroga Lake. He is also survived by five sisters; Patricia Putman of Fonda, Nadine Morrison of Gloversville, Esther May of Aztec, New Mexico, Frances Wilkins and Laura Carpenter both of Gloversville. Additional survivors include five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Frye was pre-deceased by three brothers; Chester Frye Jr., Andrew and Merrill Frye, and by a sister, Minnie Honeywell. Funeral services will be conducted 11 am Friday from the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home 51 Fremont Street, with Reverend Wayne Jones, Pastor of Foothills United Methodist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Burial will be in Kings Cemetery, Northampton.
