Obituary of Helen L. Baker

Helen L. Baker died Tuesday, November 20 in Charleston, South Carolina. She was born April 11, 1919 in Montreal, Canada to Antoinette Couture and Joseph LaVallee. She moved to Johnstown, New York early in life and then to Vestal, New York. She later relocated to South Carolina. Helen was a homemaker and found great joy in raising her three children. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing and tatting. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Baker whom she married May 30, 1941. She is survived by two sons, James Baker of Moncks Corners, South Carolina and Robert E. Baker of Harpinsville, New York; a brother, John LaVallee of Johnstown; two granddaughters, Tara Baker and Sarah Baker and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Helen was predeceased by a son, Lawrence R. Baker. A graveside service will be held at 11a.m. Saturday at Broadalbin-Mayfield Union Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Jeffords and Stewart Funeral Home, 85 West Main Street, Broadalbin, NY.
