Obituary of Nancy R. Ouellette
Nancy R. Turo Ouellette, 86, of Florida Avenue, Amsterdam, passed away Tuesday evening at the St. Mary?s Hospital
in Amsterdam.
She was born April 15, 1921 in Amsterdam, New York , she was the daughter of the late Frank and Angelina Ciarmella Turo. Nancy was a life long resident of Amsterdam and she was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School class of 1938.
Nancy was employed as a floor lady for the Martin J. Dress and later the Mohawk Dress Company in Amsterdam until her retirement in 1986.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member and one time President of the Christian Women?s Society of the church.
Nancy loved spending time with her family and enjoyed sewing, reading and watching old movies.
On June 21, 1942 she married Alfred O. Ouellette, who passed away on September 1, 1974.
Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Marie Waters of Amsterdam; a son Alfred Michael Ouellette of Amsterdam; five sisters, Elizabeth Hroncich of Amsterdam, Theresa Ruggeri of Johnstown, Mary Natole of Amsterdam, Susan & Stanley Roszak of Scotia and Edith Furman of Amsterdam, a sister-in-law, Antoinette Turo of Amsterdam; four grandchildren, Renae Hope Gorman, Cathleen Ann Hayes, Michael Joseph Ouellette and Michele Ouellette; two great-grandchildren: Matthew and Isabella Gorman; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nancy was predeceased by sister Carmella Karchesky earlier this year, and two brothers, Angelo and Jimmy Turo.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2007, at 8:15 AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:15 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Amsterdam with the Rev. Pascal Iannotti as celebrant.
Burial will take place in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Amsterdam.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 PM.
