Obituary of Polly N. Dodge
Mrs. Polly N. Dodge, 78, passed away early Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at the Palatine Nursing Home.
Born on July 23, 1929 in Syracuse, NY she was the daughter of the late Edward and Carol Howe Newell. She grew up in Western New York and attended SUNY Cortland for her teaching degree.
Mrs. Dodge moved to the Fonda area in the summer of 1969 and for 23 years she was employed as a special education teacher for the H-F-M BOCES, retiring in 1993.
Mrs. Dodge was an avid gardener, a great supporter of animals and loved her family dearly. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Dodge was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Dodge on February 26, 1990.
Survivors include, her daughter, Maureen Roblee and her husband, Bruce of Fonda NY; two sons, Vince Dodge and his wife Diane of Syracuse, NY and John Dodge and his wife Cynthia of Chester, New Jersey; one sister, ?Pidge? Bailey and her husband Jim of Bridgeport, NY; five half brothers, Jeffrey, Peter, Jonathan, Jeremy and Michael Newell; six grandchildren; one special cousin, Chuck Howe of California; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend A Mass of Christian Burial, which will be offered on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 1p.m. at St. Cecilia?s Roman Catholic Church, Broadway, Fonda, NY with the Rev. Patrick Gallagher, OFM Conv. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be sent to the Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter, 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166 or the Alzheimer?s Association of NY 85 Watervliet Avenue, Albany NY 12206 or to any animal organization of choice.
