Obituary of Linda M. Smith

Linda M. Smith, 56 of Mayfield, died unexpectedly on December 1, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam. She was born March 20, 1951 in Gloversville, daughter of the late William and Joan Crowter Stevens Sr. She was educated in Mayfield schools and employed at Lexington Center until illness forced her retirement in 1990. Linda was one of the original members of the Lexington staff when it first began on Lexington Avenue in Gloversville. She began her career as direct care staff and was a resident manager when she retired. Linda was instrumental in the subsequent openings of residential care facilities for Lexington clients. She battled her kidney disease for many years since retirement. Extremely devoted to her family, Linda found the greatest joy in life was to be with her children and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her children: Shelly Smith of Broadalbin, Geraldine Smith of Roseburg, Oregon and Darlene Smith of Meco. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Lindsay, Makensay and Bryanna. She was pre-deceased by her brother, William Stevens Jr. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be conducted 6 pm Wednesday at the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville with Reverend R.W.
