Obituary of Nellie Togaila
Nellie Togaila, 91, of Wesleyan Avenue, passed away peacefully Sunday morning at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam.
She was born October 31, 1916 in Amsterdam, New York and was the daughter of the late Michael and Mikalina Alexander Jankunas. She was a life long Amsterdam resident and attended local schools.
Nellie was employed as a glove maker for the Amsterdam Glove Company retiring a number of years ago.
She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. Her husband, Raymond Togaila predeceased her on Feb. 17, 1996. Also, her siblings, Rose Shannon, Amelia ?Emily? Jankunas and Steve Jankunas have predeceased her.
Survivor?s include her son, Thomas T. Togaila and his wife Kim of Amsterdam; two grandchildren Daniel and Samantha Togaila and two nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 9:30 am at St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church, East Main Street, Amsterdan with the Rev. David Mickiewicz as celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. There will be no calling hours, and it was Nellie?s request that contributions be made in her name to St. Casimir?s Memorial Fund, 260 East Main Street. Her arrangements have been entrusted by her family to the care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue.
