Obituary of William J. La Vallee

William J. La Vallee, 56, passed away Monday, December 3, 2007. Born in Gloversville on May 8, 1951, he was the son of John and Betty Brown La Vallee. Bill was a lifelong resident of Gloversville. He graduated from Bishop Burke High School in 1969. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and especially enjoyed basketball in his younger years. Bill married his wife, the former Bonnie Filkins, on June 22, 1990 having been together seven years prior to marriage. He was an avid fan of the Yankees but his favorite team was the New York Giants. Bill?s career started at GE for a few years until working at Gates Mills for twenty seven years until their closing. He then went on to work at Taylor Made for the last three years. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie La Vallee, of Gloversville; his parents, John and Betty La Vallee of Johnstown; a stepson, Dave Rackmyre Jr. and his wife Dale Lynn of Oppenheim; a stepdaughter, Linda Rackmyre of Ocala, FL; three brothers: Mike La Vallee and his wife Ann Marie of Rockwood, Dan La Vallee of Johnstown and Ed La Vallee and his wife Karen of Weare, NH; a sister, Sharon Coco and her husband John of Nashua, NH; five grandchildren: Samantha, David III, Angelica, Natasha and Brandon; several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Cassidy. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. Funeral services will be held Friday 11 AM at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams presiding. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 or to the American Diabetes Association, 7 Washington Square, Albany, NY 12205.
