Obituary of Barbara L. Grosse
Barbara L. Grosse, 71, of Erie Street, passed away Tuesday evening at the St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam with her loving family at her side.
She was born February 9, 1936 in Sharon, Connecticut; she was the daughter of the late John and Rachel Lamell Stevens. Barbara was raised and was a high school graduate in Vermont.
She moved to Johnstown in 1952, later she lived on the family farm in Minaville for 7 years until 1962 when she move to the Fultonville area.
Barbara was first employed at the Fonda Fultonville School System for a number of years and later worked as an aide for B.O.C.E.S. until retiring in 1998.
She was a member of the St. Monica, Juanita, Mohawk Valley, Cayadutta Chapter no. 486 Order of the Eastern Star and an active member of the Fultonville Reformed Church.
Barbara cherished all the time she spent with her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and lived everyday to love and care for her husband. Barbara had a passion for travel and was fortunate to share her many adventures with her husband and sister Judy. She loved gardening and was an avid Yankees fan. As a friend Barbara was the best. She was always thinking of the needs of others and has left a piece of herself in many hearts.
On September 4, 1954 she married Bernard Grosse.
Besides her husband she is survived by three daughters, Bobbie Jean Thomas Flint of Fonda, Jackielynn Grosse of Johnstown and Melanie Anthony Amatetti of Monroe, NY; a brother, Lawrence Stevens of Dolan Springs, Arizona; two sisters, Kathleen Prime of St. Augustine, Florida and
Judith Korona of Fort Johnson, NY; five grandchildren, Thomas Flint, Matthew Flint, Kristen Flint, Kallie- Anne Amatetti and Mark Amatetti; uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2007, at 11:00 am at the Fultonville Reformed Church, Main Street, Fultonville. Burial will take place in spring at the Chuctanunda Cemetery in Minaville. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville.
