Obituary of Frances Grace Adelson

Frances Grace Adelson 66, of Spearhead Drive, Glenville, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning at Albany Medical Center after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Amsterdam, October of 1941, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Ruggeri Alfano. Fran was raised in Johnstown where she was a graduate of Johnstown High School Class of 1959.She lived in Gloversville for a time and moved to the Schenectady area in 1978. For the past twenty six years, Fran was employed as a phone operator for the Off Track Betting Parlor in Schenectady. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her kind and caring ways. She was of the Roman Catholic faith. On her birthday, in Oct. of 1963, she was united in marriage to Donald S. Adelson. In addition to beloved husband, she leaves her children; Michele Renard Cohen of Kunkletown, PA, Brian Lisa Adelson of Wilton, JoAnn M. Adelson of Schenectady and Melanie Gary Livingston of Glenville; brothers; Joseph Michele Alfano of Virginia Beach, Va., and John Patti Greene Alfano of Glenville; sisters; Lea Alfano of Delmar and Dolores Kirk Koenig of Ontario, NY; her grandchildren; Ariel, Rhea, Molly and Olivia Cohen; Briana and Kent Benwell; Tessa and Danielle Livingston and Reiley and Sarah Adelson; an uncle; John Capello; brother and sister in law Gary and Joan Adelson of Niskayuna; dear family friend Judy Pomakoy of Delmar as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services are Monday at 11:00 am at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union Street, Schenectady. Fr. Martin DeRose officiating. Internment will take place in the spring at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery Johnstown. Calling hours are Sunday from 4-7 pm at the Gleason Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Fran?s name to the American Cancer Society 260 Osborne Rd. Loudonville, NY 12211, or the American Diabetes Assoc. 7 Washington Sq. Albany, NY 12205. The family will also be receiving callers on Monday and Tuesday evenings after 7pm at the Adelson residence, 1137 Spearhead Drive, Glenville. Fran?s family has entrusted her arrangements to the care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home of Amsterdam.
