Obituary of Mabel E. Ward

Mabel E. Ward, 68, passed away peacefully Friday, December 7, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 15, 1939 to the late Patrick and Elizabeth Decker McSpirit in Mayfield. She was employed by St. Thomas Incorporated in Gloversville. Mabel was a devoted member of the ?Wednesday Ladies Club?; she loved shopping, country music and butterflies. She adored ?The King? Elvis Presley and had a great love for Diana, Princess of Wales. Most of all, Mabel loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Doreen Hernigle of Fultonville; a son, Larry Ward of Fultonville; four brothers: William ?Pooh? McSpirit, Furman ?Dine? McSpirit, Thomas McSpirit, and Fred ?Chic? McSpirit; two sisters: Patricia Passino and Joan Carter; two grandchildren: Eugene Hernigle, III and Craig Hernigle, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many devoted friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Mabel was predeceased by four brothers: Richard ?Dick? McSpirit, Earl ?Duke? McSpirit, Charles ?Chad? McSpirit and John McSpirit. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 13 at 3:00 p.m. at Walrath and Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville with Jill Farnham, chaplain of Community Hospice presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mabel?s memory to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny?s Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
