Obituary of Ruth E. Lair
Ruth E. Lair, 87, of Caroga Lake, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2007 at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home. She had been a patient there for three and a half years.
Born in Gloversville April 23, 1920, she was the daughter of Ralph and Hazel Canfield Tunnicliff. She was educated in Gloversville schools.
On December 24, 1938, Ruth married Albert C. Lair of Northville who died February 6, 2003. They lived in Gloversville until moving to Caroga Lake in 1979.
Mrs. Lair was employed at the former Kingsboro Hotel for many years. She also worked at the Highland Nursing Home and Turpins Nursing Home, all of Gloversville.
Ruth had great joy in fishing and camping with her family at their camp in West River and in fishing the many other lakes of the area. She also loved to crochet and embroider.
Besides her husband Ruth was also predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Tunnicliff and Margaret Winchell and one brother Richard Tunnicliff, all of Gloversville, and one grandson Benjamin Lair of Bleecker.
She will be greatly missed by her three sons Robert A. Lair and wife Sandra of Bleecker, William C. Lair and wife Joan of Gettysburg, PA and Albert G. Lair and wife Deborah of Broadalbin; also by her seven grandchildren, Michelle Swart, Brett Lair, Meloney Van Horne, Cathlene Manchester, Erin Pettit, Rebecka Pettit and Victoria Mitchell; also 21 great-grandchildren and 8 great ?great-grandchildren.
A private service will take place at the convenience of the family at the Gloversville Wesleyan Church. There will be no calling hours. Interment will take place in the springtime at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
